Internal Specialist, DVM
Dearborn Animal Shelter Benefit
Collaboration with Marj Field DVM and Christina Curtis
Acrylic paint with clearcoat
Stray Cat Strut: a benefit for a new city of Dearborn Animal Shelter Adoption Center.
Process:
I started sketching the face and body from a provided template for the sculpture.
The kitty ended up being a bright orange rather than a brown and white tabby I had initially sketched.
I researched the skeletal and organ systems of domestic cats to ensure accuracy in the final scuplture.
I received the final blank sculpture at VCA Allen Park Animal Hospital and drew my sketches on the full size cat.
Working with two other artists we worked to bring the sculpture together. After the painting was done
it was sent to 4 Way Collision to be clear coated.
The final sculpture, named Internal Specialist, DVM, traveled to many events in the Detroit area
and was auctioned to raise money for a new animal shelter.
